ready to feel Nourished through pregnancy and beyond?
We don't believe in diet culture, particularly during pregnancy.
Every person carrying a baby deserves compassionate, individualized nutrition support, free from weight stigma and food rules.
What makes our perinatal nutrition support different?
It's evidence-based care that honors your whole self, and your growing family.
Weight-Inclusive & HAES® Approach
We use a Health At Every Size® framework to provide pregnancy and postpartum care that focuses on how you feel — not how much you weigh. No weigh-ins, no shame, no body commentary.
Individualized Care
Every pregnancy is different. We tailor our nutrition support to your trimester, your symptoms, your history with food, and your personal goals — meeting you exactly where you are.
Team Collaboration
We work closely with your OB, midwife, therapist, and care team to provide integrated, comprehensive support throughout your perinatal journey.
Insurance Accepted
Most major insurance plans cover nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian. We'll help you navigate your benefits so cost isn't a barrier to getting the support you deserve.
"Working with Happy Valley Nutrition during my pregnancy was one of the best decisions I made. I had so much anxiety around food and weight gain, and my dietitian helped me let go of so much of that noise. For the first time, I actually felt good about the way I was eating and good about my body.”
You will feel supported, not judged.
They truly walk their anti-diet talk. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

WE TAKE INSURANCE
Coverage depends on individual plans and benefits.
Did you know that you can use your insurance to cover visits with a Registered Dietitian, often with no copay?
Contact us to learn how and for any specific questions for using insurance to cover visits.
We do not accept MassHealth or Tufts Public/Direct plans as they do not credential private practice dietitians. We offer out of pocket rates for these clients.
While we do accept Medicare plans for nutrition counseling, only Diabetes (not “prediabetes”) and kidney disease are covered.
perinatal nutrition support we provide
First Trimester Nutrition & Nausea
Nausea, food aversions, and fatigue can make eating feel impossible in early pregnancy. We help you figure out what actually works for your body, without forcing or judging it. We work together to help you and baby be nourished even on the hardest days.
Second & Third Trimester Nutrition
As your pregnancy progresses, your nutritional needs shift. We provide personalized guidance on meeting those needs in a way that feels good, sustainable, and free from unnecessary restriction or anxiety around weight gain.
Gestational Diabetes
A gestational diabetes diagnosis doesn't have to mean deprivation. We take a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach to blood sugar management that helps you feel confident and in control — without rigid rules that fuel stress or fear around food.
Postpartum Recovery & Fourth Trimester Support
The weeks and months after birth are demanding on your body, your sleep, your identity, and your relationship with food. We provide grounding, realistic postpartum nutrition support that prioritizes your recovery and wellbeing, not "bouncing back."
Perinatal Mental Health & Disordered Eating
Pregnancy and postpartum can amplify a complicated relationship with food and your body. We have specialized experience supporting clients navigating disordered eating, eating disorders, or body image struggles during the perinatal period, with the sensitivity and expertise this work requires.
Breastfeeding & Lactation Nutrition
Feeding another human from your body is an enormous caloric and emotional undertaking. We help you understand your nutrition needs during breastfeeding without guilt, rules, or "bounce back" pressure.
We don’t do pregnancy diet culture.
Pregnancy is already a time of enormous change: physical, emotional, relational. The last thing you need on top of that is a healthcare provider scrutinizing your body size, pushing a restrictive eating plan, or sending you home with a list of foods you "shouldn't" have.
At Happy Valley Nutrition in Amherst, MA, we take a weight-inclusive, anti-diet approach to perinatal nutrition because we know that shame and restriction don't lead to healthy pregnancies: connection, nourishment, and compassion do. We're not here to police what you eat. We're here to help you feel fed, supported, and at home in your changing body.
The perinatal period is short, but its impact on your relationship with food and your body can last a lifetime. We take that seriously.
You deserve care that honors your whole self: bump, postpartum body, and everything in between.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1
LET’S TALK
The first step can feel like the hardest and we totally get that.
We'll begin with a free clarity call where you get a chance to tell us all about you. We'll talk about where you are in your pregnancy or postpartum journey, your goals, and what kind of support will serve you best.
Don’t want the call? No problem- we can just book an initial appointment!
Step 2
LET’S WORK
During your first session, we'll complete a comprehensive nutrition assessment, hear your full story, and begin building your personalized perinatal care plan.
During the session we’ll create a plan that best suits you and discuss the ideal ways we can support you until our next appointment.
Step 3
LET’S GO
Pregnancy and postpartum aren't a sprint — and neither is our support.
We'll be with you through every trimester, the fourth trimester, and beyond. Building a nourishing, sustainable relationship with food during this season is something you'll carry with you long after baby arrives.
It takes courage to ask for support. We're honored to be part of your journey.
Nutrition counseling services can be done in-person (Amherst office) or via Telehealth.
