NAVIGATE PERIMENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE WITH with confidence

Menopause doesn't have to mean restriction, deprivation, or fighting your body. Our registered dietitians in Amherst provide compassionate, evidence-based nutrition support to help you feel your best during this transition, without dieting.

Menopause nutrition that honors your body

Weight-inclusive, anti-diet support for the Pioneer Valley

HAES® & Intuitive Eating Approach

We use Health At Every Size® and intuitive eating principles to support you through menopause—focusing on how you feel, not the number on the scale.

Reject Diet Culture

No restrictive meal plans or "menopause diets." We help you nourish your body through hormonal changes without the deprivation that makes symptoms worse.

Whole-Person Support

We address nutrition for hot flashes, sleep, bone health, heart health, energy, and mood—the full picture of menopausal wellbeing, not just weight.

Insurance Accepted

Most major insurance plans cover nutrition counseling for menopause-related concerns. We'll help you navigate your benefits and access the support you deserve.

Your body isn't broken. It's changing.

Perimenopause and menopause bring real physical changes. Shifting hormones, metabolism changes, new symptoms. The diet industry's response? Restriction, deprivation, and the message that your changing body is a problem to fix.

As dietitians specializing in menopause in Amherst and the Pioneer Valley, we reject that narrative. Your body is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. Our job isn't to help you "fight" menopause or shrink your body. It's to help you nourish yourself well, manage symptoms effectively, and feel strong and energized during this transition.

Whether you're dealing with hot flashes, sleep disruptions, metabolic changes, or just trying to figure out how to eat in a way that feels good in this new phase of life, you deserve support that respects your body and honors your wellbeing, not another diet disguised as "hormone health."

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM AMANDA MITTMAN,

Registered Dietitian and founder of Happy Valley Nutrition

WE TAKE INSURANCE

Coverage depends on individual plans and benefits.

Did you know that you can use your insurance to cover visits with a Registered Dietitian, often with no copay?

Contact us to learn how and for any specific questions for using insurance to cover visits.

We do not accept MassHealth or Tufts Public/Direct plans as they do not credential private practice dietitians. We offer out of pocket rates for these clients.

While we do accept Medicare plans for nutrition counseling, only Diabetes (not “prediabetes”) and kidney disease are covered.

eating disorders we treat

Anorexia Nervosa

Anorexia nervosa involves restriction of food intake, intense fear of weight gain, and distorted body image. Our nutrition therapy helps normalize eating patterns, challenge rigid food rules, and rebuild trust with hunger and fullness cues while addressing the medical complications of malnutrition.

Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia nervosa is characterized by binge eating episodes followed by compensatory behaviors like purging. We provide structured meal planning and teach practical skills to interrupt the binge-purge cycle, develop alternative coping strategies, and support your body's physical recovery.

Binge Eating Disorder

Binge eating disorder involves recurrent episodes of eating large amounts of food with feelings of loss of control. Our weight-inclusive approach helps you understand your triggers, develop mindful eating practices, and process shame around food while building self-compassion.

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

ARFID involves limited food variety due to sensory issues, fear of consequences, or lack of interest in eating. We use gradual food exposure therapy to expand your food repertoire, address sensory sensitivities, and ensure nutritional adequacy for both children and adults.

Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED)

Not all eating disorders fit neat categories, but all deserve treatment. We support clients with atypical anorexia, purging disorder, night eating syndrome, orthorexia, and other disordered eating patterns. Your struggle is valid regardless of diagnosis.

We don’t do diets.

Living with an eating disorder is hard enough without the added pressure of food rules, restrictions, and judgment. At Happy Valley Nutrition, we believe recovery isn't about perfection or control—it's about reconnecting with your body, honoring your needs, and finding peace with food.

We use a weight-inclusive, anti-diet approach because we know that restriction and rigid rules often fuel eating disorders rather than heal them. Our goal isn't to tell you what to eat, but to help you rediscover your own inner wisdom about food and nourishment. Recovery is messy, non-linear, and deeply personal—and we're here to support you through every step with compassion, not rules.

You deserve to eat without fear. You deserve to live fully.

HOW IT WORKS

Step 1

LET’S TALK

The first step can feel like the hardest and we totally get that.

We’ll begin with a free clarity call where you get a chance to tell us all about you! We’ll discuss your health goals, and what type of support will best suit you.

Don’t want the call? No problem- we can just book an initial appointment!

Step 2

LET’S WORK

During your first session, we'll complete a comprehensive nutrition assessment, discuss your recovery goals, and begin building your personalized treatment plan.

During the session we’ll create a plan that best suits you and discuss the ideal ways we can support you until our next appointment.
